What Inspired This Design (Click on the design to enlarge the image)
Some of the nostalgia wrtiters and readers feel about 1940’s writers such as: John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway, Ayn Rand, C.S. Lewis, and too many others to list, was their typewriter. The romance of sitting at one’s desk and banging away at those snapping keys fuels our imaginations. Writing is about asking, “What if,” so the shirt is also a spoof on book titles and typewriter brands. There was no such typewriter maker as Smith & Pomona or a machine brand called an Original. To our knowledge, John Steinbeck never titled any drafts of The Grapes of Wrath as The Grapes of Oklahoma, one setting for the story. It was just fun to imagine the possibilities.
